Mesotherapy can also be performed by the mesogun where in there is a gun like instrument holding a syringe with the mesosolution , once the trigger of the gun is pressed the needle makes to and fro movements delivering the mesosolution into the skin. Electroporation: involves the use of electroporation device which when placed over your skin increases the permeability of the cells of the skin by utilizing light electrical energy and hence the mesolutions are delivered by a non-invasive manner.

What are the pre-treatment and post treatment care for mesotherapy?

Pre-treatment care

• Patient is instructed to stop using salicylic acid based facewash, anti acne creams, whitening creams and anti-aging creams few days before the mesotherapy.

Post treatment care

• Patient is instructed to avoid washing the face for the first 12 hours after treatment, apply the sunscreen religiously, avoid going out in direct sun light and moisturize every few hours
• Use of gentle wash is emphasized for few days after mesotherapy
• Avoid anti acne, anti wrinkles, anti blemish, whitening creams, scrubs for few days after procedure

What is Micro needling?

Micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a process involving repetitive puncturing of the skin with sterilized micro-needles attached to an automatic mechanical pen like device to create tiny wounds, which help in triggering collagen stimulation. It can be conveniently used to treat specific skin areas of the body. The depth of the needles is adjusted by your doctor according to the skin concerns and areas of treatment. The most common cause of fine lines,wrinkles, atrophic acne scars is loss of collagen. Since micro-needling helps build collagen by stimulating its production it is very beneficial in skin resurfacing.

How Does it work?

Before the procedure a topical numbing cream is applied on the treatment area for about 40 minutes to an hour. Since the skin is numbed prior to the treatment there is no or minimal discomfort during the procedure. The depth of the micro-needles is then adjusted by your doctor according to the area of treatment for best outcome. Through physical trauma from needle penetration, micro needling induces a wound healing cascade with minimal damage to the epidermis( the outermost layer of skin ) The skin cells rush to heal this micro trauma, and an ideal environment for collagen and elastin production is created. Is there any downtime?

It is a quick office / OPD based procedure . Micro-needling typically causes mild skin redness and some dryness that can last for a few days. Redness and dryness depends on the depth of the needles used during the procedure. Thus it has no to very minimal downtime depending on the depth of the needles used and your skin type. One should follow all the post procedure instructions given. Sunblock with an SPF of 30+ should be used. Mild cleansing agents should be used and skin hydration is a must. One should avoid letting the skin become dry and thus moisturizers should be used liberally. Avoid swimming /steam/sauna for a week. One should not use retinol based creams/ vitamin C serums for at least 7 -10 days post procedure.
